The built heritage is an economic resource for property owners throughout Denmark.
This is one of the conclusions in "The value of the built heritage"; an analysis conducted by the consultancy firms Incentive and Dansk Bygningsarv for Realdania. More specifically, the analysis concludes that:
sales prices for preservation-worthy single-family houses are 30 percent higher than for comparable, non-preservation-worthy houses.
house prices in areas with more than 15 percent preservation-worthy buildings are 13 percent higher than prices in comparable areas elsewhere.
History shows that cultural heritage and exciting architecture attract both tourists and new residents. This in turn affects the profits of local and regional businesses and subsequently generates more jobs and higher revenues for the municipalities.
