Adaptation approaches in Danish municipalities climate action plans

This publication reviews municipalities' work on climate adaptation in the DK2020 project. The report looks at the knowledge base municipalities have relied on, and at the targets and actions they have set to adapt to the climate of the future, as well as how their climate adaption actions can benefit everyone.

The Climate Alliance of Denmark

Denmark is the first country in the world where nearly all municipalities have created climate action plans that align with the 1.5 degree goal in the Paris Agreement. These plans must now be translated into action. Through the Climate Alliance, Local Government Denmark (KL), Realdania, and the five Danish regions have formed a five-year partnership to contribute to implementation and climate action.

DK2020

The DK2020 program was set up in 2019 to assist municipalities in preparing ambitious, local climate action plans that can lead the way to climate neutrality by no later than 2050.
